AP Chemistry

AP Chemistry connects particle-level models to observable chemical behavior. These notes follow the major AP units: atomic structure, bonding, intermolecular forces, reactions, kinetics, thermochemistry, equilibrium, acids and bases, and thermodynamics/electrochemistry. A strong way to study is to keep asking three questions:

  1. What particles are present?
  2. What interactions or reactions are possible?
  3. How do the numbers from the balanced equation, equilibrium expression, or energy relationship support the claim?

AP free-response questions often reward clear particle-level explanations, correct use of units, and linking evidence to a model. Memorized rules help, but they are strongest when paired with reasoning from charge, polarity, energy, and equilibrium.
